Betts was senior lecturer in painting and drawing at Ahmadu Bello University in Nigeria from 1959-67 years and Senior Lecturer and Course Coordinator in painting and drawing at Curtin University in Perth from 1970-81. Betts has traveled extensively throughout Spain and Northern Africa and exhibited regularly throughout Australia and internationally.
