RAY CROOKE Islander with Flowers

Born in Merriwa, Western Australia in 1929, Juniper was taken to England in 1936 where he studied at the Beckenham School of Art in Kent. He returned to Australia in 1949, working as a commercial artist in Sydney and Perth. He began teaching in 1953. In 1967 he formed the Perth Group with Guy Grey-Smith, Brian McKay and Tom Gibbons. He has twice won the Helena Rubinstein Prize and won the Wynne Prize in 1976.
