HARALD VIKE Rivergum Drumond Creek

Born 1906, Norway; arrived Fremantle, WA, 1929; died 1987; painter, illustrator, stage designer.

Studies: Perth, with G. Pitt Morison, 1930.

Vike served in whaling ships, became a professional boxer and later turned to painting. He drew caricatures for the Argus and from 1958-71 was principal décor designer for HSV7 Television. Vike travelled extensively throughout Australia over his lifetime.

Represented: NGA, AGWA, NGV regional and corporate collections.
